Jeffrey A. Murray, M.D.

Biography:

Dr. Murray is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia. He completed his training in orthopaedic surgery at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Murray also completed an additional fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic where he was one of the team physi­cians for the National Championship University of Tennessee football team.

Dr. Murray is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Medical Association. Dr. Murray has a broad range of knowledge in all types of orthopaedic problems, with particular interest and expertise in sports injuries and surgery of the knee and shoulder. Dr. Murray also holds a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in sports medicine*.

Dr. Murray practices at Durham Regional Hospital, North Carolina Specialty Hospital, James E. Davis Surgery Center, Person Memorial Hospital, Lincoln Community Health Center, and Granville Medical Center.

*CAQ Sports Medicine:  The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, in conjunction with the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, offers a certificate of added qualification for "those surgeons who have demonstrated qualifications beyond those expected of other orthopaedic surgeons by virtue of additional education, a practice characterized by a majority of cases in orthopaedic sports medicine, and contributions to this field of medicine."  It is granted to orthopaedic surgeons who are approved to take and who pass a subspecialty examination in sports medicine.  Fewer than 600 surgeons hold the sports CAQ nationally.
