Additionally, he was the assistant team physician for the 2004 NIFL Arena League National Championship football team, the Lexington Horsemen.

Dr. Smith treats patients of all ages and continues to treat athletes at all levels of competition. He has served as the team physician for Carolina Stallions semi-pro football team, North Carolina Wesleyan College, Barton College, the Wilson Tobs, and several high schools in Nash and Wilson counties. He actively provides sideline coverage for the Beddingfield High School football team.

Dr. Smith has been in practice in eastern North Carolina since 2004. His practice focuses on sports medicine including arthroscopic surgery. He has expertise in anatomic ACL reconstruction, Rotator Cuff repair, and cartilage repair in the knee and shoulder.
