As part of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Physiatry Team for the EmergeOrtho—Triangle Region, Dr. David Marks practices a patient-centered approach to pain management. The only psychiatrist on the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team, he has extensive experience in research, teaching, and treating chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. His goal is to help ensure each patient receives personalized pain treatment to help them Emerge Stronger. Healthier. Better—with an improved quality of life.

Education and Expertise

Dr. Marks earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine in 1995. He went on to complete his residency in psychiatry at the University of California at San Diego from 1995-1998 and was senior resident in Psychiatry at the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit from 1998-1999. Dr. Marks attended a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, University of California at San Diego from 1999-2000.

In 2008, Dr. Marks studied pain medicine at Duke University Medical Center and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Family Medicine.

Dr. Marks is a diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine (pain management) and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (psychiatry). He is board-certified in Pain Medicine, Psychiatry, and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.

Dr. Mark’ clinical interests and background as a psychiatrist allow him to provide patients with services and treatment methods including:
