Dr. Mark Burt provides a wide variety of subspecialty orthopedic services for EmergeOrtho—Triangle Region. Specializing in the Shoulder and Knee, Dr. Burt is skilled in minimally-invasive techniques, the benefits of which include smaller incisions, reduced muscle disruption, less postoperative pain, and faster rehabilitation. His area of surgical expertise includes robotic assisted total and partial knee replacement surgery with Makoplasty Stryker Triathlon, shoulder arthroscopy, hand surgery, and more.

Education and Expertise

Dr. Burt attended undergraduate school at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He attended medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and completed his general surgery internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.

During his time at Tulane University, Dr. Burt served as Administrative Chief Resident. He earned the Leonard Marmor Surgical Arthritis Foundation Award for the outstanding orthopedic surgery resident and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Burt’s residency started in 1995 and he has been in private practice since 2000.

Dr. Burt is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honors Medical Society.

Dr. Burt serves as the supervising and treating orthopedic team physician and surgeon for the Heritage High School athletic programs in Wake Forest, NC. He was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
