Today, physicians are better equipped to detect and treat bone loss in its earliest stages, striving to prevent disease or lessen its impact. Triangle Orthopaedics offers a painless, noninvasive test that can measure bone mass. This helps prevent, diagnose and treat osteoporosis. The most common examination sites for testing are the fracture-prone hip, spine and forearm. Evaluation also includes measurement of height and weight, a thorough history, and risk assessment.
We offer bone density testing on a Hologic DEXA Scan
This machine can detect osteoporosis before a fracture occurs, predict the chance of a future fracture, determine the rate of bone loss, and monitor the effects of treatment. It exposes the patient to less radiation than one standard x-ray. A physician referral is required.
Our providers can meet with you to review your bone density test and discuss interventions to help increase bone density and lessen the chances of a future fracture. We accomplish this with recommendations for diet and exercise. Sometimes, additional lab tests are ordered and medications are prescribed. We also offer a Physical Therapy program for women that includes an evaluation with an experienced physical therapist and a personalized exercise program to help improve posture and strength, prevent falls and decrease the risk for fractures.
"Being able to access your Orthopedic Urgent Care on a Saturday was a God-send. It was wonderful to avoid an ER. Thank you all so much for being open on Saturdays and after hours, Monday through Friday."
